The armored thermocouple has the characteristics of large measurement temperature range, fast response speed, small dynamic error, flexible installation, high mechanical strength, and good pressure resistance. Armored thermocouples can generally measure the surface or internal temperature of gases, liquids and vapors and solids in the range of 0 to 1300 °C. Armored thermocouples can be used with digital instruments, recording adjustment instruments, PLCs, data collectors or computers. Two different metal conductors are welded together to form a closed loop. If a temperature difference is generated by heating the welding end, a thermoelectromotive force will be generated in the loop. This phenomenon is called the Seebeck effect. If the temperature at the other end (as the reference end) remains constant (usually 0°C), the thermoelectromotive force of the loop becomes a single-valued function of the temperature at the measurement end. This kind of element that measures temperature by measuring thermoelectromotive force, that is, two pairs of metal conductors are called thermocouples.
