Installation of thermocouple
In production, due to different objects to be measured, different environmental conditions, different measurement requirements, and different installation methods and measures of thermal resistance, there are many problems to be considered, but in principle, the accuracy, safety and convenience of maintenance of temperature measurement can be considered.
In order to avoid damage to temperature measuring elements, it is necessary to ensure that they have sufficient mechanical strength. In order to protect temperature sensing elements from wear, protective screens or tubes should be added. In order to ensure safety and reliability, the installation method of temperature measuring elements should be determined according to the specific circumstances (such as the temperature and pressure of the medium to be measured, the length of temperature measuring elements and their installation location, form, etc.). Here are just a few examples to draw attention to:
All temperature measuring elements under pressure must be installed to ensure their tightness. For thermocouples working at high temperature, in order to prevent deformation of the protective tube at high temperature, they should be installed vertically. If they must be installed horizontally, they should not be too long, and the thermocouples should be protected with brackets. If the temperature measuring element is installed in the pipeline with large medium flow rate, it shall be installed at an inclined angle. In order to prevent the temperature measuring element from being excessively eroded, it is better to install it at the bend of the pipeline. When the medium pressure exceeds 10MPa, the measuring element must be provided with a protective jacket. The installation position of thermocouple/thermal resistance shall also consider enough space and site for its disassembly, repair and calibration. The thermocouple and thermal resistance with long protective tube shall be easily disassembled.
